Bay Area native Gideon Elson learned to juggle at age 11 and quickly gravitated toward compact, fast, and tricky ball patterns using 3 and 4 balls. He specializes in creating unique sequences that blend cross-armed shapes, active 2s, and other temoto techniques—tight, intricate patterns that stay close to the hands and body. With a background in music, Gideon enjoys exploring the musicality and distinct rhythms of each pattern, often experimenting with timing, phrasing, and structure. A full-time teacher and part-time performer, he is especially interested in the pedagogy of juggling—how we teach and learn beyond just the cascade. He works exclusively with balls, focusing primarily on 3 and 4 ball juggling.

He competed at the International Juggler Association’s prestigious stage championships this past summer, and came home with the bronze medal.
